Chubby Little Photo Challenge Day 27: Shows for the Environmental Little

Chubby Little Challenge Banner

Good Evening Friends!

Tonight I’m sitting here with my cup of tea blushing. As a California hippie and a Little, climate issues and the environment are near and dear to my heart. But this is nothing new. Once upon a time in Middle School (grade 6-8), I was the president of the environmental club. I was so passionate about it that I marched up to the principal of my school demanding that they spotlight a section on the closed-circuit school TV program to discuss a weekly piece of advice to care for our planet. Yeah, I was that nerdy girl (lol). But in all seriousness, being eco-friendly plays a big part of my little space. Here are a few ways in which I try to be mindful of my carbon footprint:

  • I recycle daily.
  • I use 100% biodegradable toothbrushes. (No plastic!)
  • I never use plastic straws or plastic water bottles. I only use stainless steel reuseable ones.
  • I compost many of our cooking scraps here on the farm.
  • I make my own deodorant from coconut oil and baking soda. (Sometimes I add a few drops of essential oil to make it have a nice organic smell).
  • During the spring and summer we use an off grid washer and let the California sun dry our clothes on the line. (It saves money too!).
  • We shop at thrift stores many times as opposed to buying new and creating packaging waste.
  • We use reuseable grocery bags (and even reuseable produce bags!) to eliminate getting plastic bags from the store.
  • And this Spring we will be planting more trees here on the farm to give back to the planet!

Yes, there are so many ways you can make easy switches to helping care for the environment. Which brings me to tonight’s topic: environmental shows! Now, the following shows are ones that I have personally watched and can attest that they aren’t super cheesy and will hold your attention in Little Space. What I love about these shows is that they are kids shows for Little Space and they also have a warm environmental message too! I hope you all enjoy this list! Now, let’s dive in:

Show #1: Captain Planet (Click Here for The Official Captain Planet Foundation and FULL EPISODES)Β

    1. Absolutely!! πŸ™‚ So! Begin with a small jar with a lid. I use an 8 ounce glass mason jar. Next, put 3/4 cup of coconut oil into the jar. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda and mix, mix, mix!! This step might take a bit as you want the baking soda to combine well but stick with it. If you want a specific fragrance, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and give it one final mix. If not, you’re done! To use, take two fingers and you only need about a quarter’s worth on your fingertips to apply to the skin. You’ll find that the coconut oil is anti-microbial and soothing and the baking soda eliminates any smell even on the warmest days! πŸ™‚ xx
