Good Sleep = A Happy Little [Happy Rambles]

Good Afternoon Friends,

Today I just wanted to curl up here and talk about the importance of sleep. Yes, it’s good for the body. But, it’s extra good for Little Space too! I’ve met some people who are able to function off of 3, 4, or even 5 hours of sleep. I’m not one of those people. Nope! This little kitten needs a solid 8 hours in order to be productive. So in today’s rambles I’d like to discuss how making space for proper rest correlates into tapping deeper into “Little Me”. Are you ready? Then, let’s dive in. ❤



I. More Rest = Less Stress and Anxiety: 

I’ve been quite vocal and open here in my blog about my journey with battling and recovering from anxiety. I’ve had anxiety for over a decade, and for those who don’t know, at the end of 2018 I decided to rally a team of amazing doctors around me to begin my path to wellness. It was a life-changing decision and one that has completely turned everything around for me. I’ve come to learn that when I’m properly rested the intrusive thoughts don’t enter my mind. When I’ve had proper sleep, I’m less likely to get startled, and better able to focus. My depression isn’t there, and I’m a working machine!! It’s pretty awesome.

But anxiety can be a giant butt sometimes and prevent me from getting sleep. My mind will rattle with “what if’s?” and thoughts of gloom and doom that I lay there tossing and turning. (Does this sound familiar for anyone?). Which is why I completely changed my bedtime routine to incorporate “Little Me”! You see, my little side is a space of relaxation and happiness. When I do things to regress in age, it immediately calms down my anxiety. For example: I sleep in a hammock that mimics a cradle. I put baby powder on my legs to smell nice and feel relaxed before I wiggle into my pajamas. I sleep with my plushies and my baby blanket. I do things to intentionally tap into my little side right before I rest, and that puts my mind in a head space that is ready to wind down.

II. More Rest = A Sillier Me: 

By nature I am pretty silly. I love to laugh and make it a point to watch things that crack me up. I love memes, jokes, and can find the humor in most situations. So it’s no surprise that with proper rest, I become a happy, silly Little. Another way that I strive to get a good night’s sleep is to make a “to do” list for the following day that gives me things to look forward to. Yes, I have my adult responsibilities like everyone else. But I also put things on my list that are tiny pieces of time where I can let loose and just have fun! Ever since I went through a very traumatic event in my life, I’ve made it a point to never squander time.

Time is precious. Life is precious. We never know how much time we’re going to be given. So with each passing day, I strive to live intentionally and (for me) that means making space to laugh and regress into little space. I often describe my little space as “wholesome” or non-sexual because I don’t engage in age play. My little space is filled with coloring apps, games, music, texting Daddy C constantly, laughing with my husband, snuggling with my daughter, and making a nightly tea time that rivals “Alice in Wonderland”. III. More Rest = A Giving Heart: 

The last way that better rest enables me to be Little easier, is that when I’m rested I feel more able to give of myself. I blog here on a daily basis. I strive to put out multiple posts a day with content that I feel is uplifting and relevant. I come into this space from a place of love and giving. It’s my passion to share my little side with you. It’s my passion to write about living a Cg/l life in my books. But, I need rest to do so! 🙂 I get a wee bit grumpy when I don’t have adequate sleep. So I strive to get rest so that I can be more active and focused on my writing here with all of YOU! 🙂
