Good Afternoon Friends,
I just peeled my eyes open. My world was cozy, warm, and so snug. I didn’t want to move, but I knew that eventually I had to make this post. Today is Groundhog Day, and around here we have been doing fun things to welcome this turning point in winter. We began our morning baking corn muffins. The smell of Jiffy cornbread filled our tiny kitchen as my daughter and I chopped up hotdogs and assembled tiny “Punxsutawney Phil’s” to stick in each one.
As we chopped little cheese sticks and assembled our candy eyes we watched the live-stream of the 2020 Groundhog Prediction!
As the day wore on we began focusing on the start of Spring. We dreamed of planting flowers in the garden. We began sketching design ideas for the gazebo. “Mama” my daughter said, “we should make dirt!”. And so we did. ❤
The vanilla and cream cheese pudding whipped together with cool whip and then covered with crush Oreo “dirt” and dyed coconut flake “grass” was simply delicious. It was a fun, happy activity to do together as a family. I glanced over and smirked seeing the Captain happily munching away on gummy worms…
Finally we snuggled up on the couch to watch “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray. If you’ve never seen this movie, I encourage you to do so. It’s a great family movie with some hilarious moments even though it’s a bit old school. (It was made in 1993!).
Personally I’ve seen “Groundhog Day” many times, so as my head laid on my Daddy’s stomach and my soft, white blanket was pulled up to my chin, my eyes began to grow heavy. Perfectly in sync with my body, I began to feel Daddy’s body fall limp too. (We always put each other to sleep when we’re smushed up together lol). I turned my head to the perfect point and passed out for a quiet, afternoon nap….
Which brings me here! 🙂 Today I challenge YOU to take a short nap for yourself. Go ahead and treat yourself to a few minutes of “shut eye”. You’ll feel so refreshed! I hope you all are having a beautiful day!
Much love,
~Kitten xx
