Good Morning Friends!
I love Sunday mornings. I love Sunday mornings on a long weekend. In the U.S. it’s President’s Day on Monday, which means that Daddy gets to stay home on Monday! (Weeee!!) ❤ As such, I was surprised when he turned to me and said, “Let’s make it a Little weekend”. My lips curled into a grin and instantly I regressed. “O-tay Dada!” I chirped and off we dove into the weekend. As we get back to our challenges, I hope you’ll join me in making more space for being Little. Being Little daily feels so relaxing, soothing, and comforting. That said, let’s take a look at today’s challenge. 😉
Today I challenge you to eat your favorite little food.
As I pushed my shopping cart around the store yesterday I pursed my lips. In truth, there are many foods that make me feel little! I love apple slices. I love a banana all chopped up for me. I love eating a bowl of ice cubes. I love Teddy Graham crackers, and I love seaweed sheets to snack on! So perhaps these foods aren’t my “favorite”, but they certainly make me feel small. For today, my little foods of choice are: chicken nuggets, tater tots, and onion rings. Now let me gush a bit to tell you why this food makes me feel so small inside….
When I was a child my parents traveled often. We were always loading up our cherry-bomb colored minivan to head to a new historical destination or museum. (My mom was a teacher so she wanted to make each trip educational. Truthfully, I loved it. 🙂 ). Back then it was just my older brother and I, so we each got one of the long seats in the back of the van. My brother and I fought like cats and dogs daily, so to minimize arguments our parents allowed us to turn the back seats into forts. We brought old sheets and pillows to convert the back into our personal bunk beds. I remember staring at the passing scenery from the little hole at my feet as I was tucked away in my cocoon.
Naturally as we drove up and down the East Coast, my parents stopped at McDonald’s to fuel the whole family on a dime. That tiny, red cardboard carton would be slipped into the back and I would nearly squeal with glee as I consumed chicken nuggets, french fries, and cheeseburgers, all before lifting up my toy triumphantly. (This was back when the toys from McDonald’s were actually cool lol). As I got to be a teenager my love for nuggets still remained, only this time I loved dipping them in various sauces. I loved dunking them in mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, and honey mustard. I loved chopping them up and tossing them into a breakfast burrito, or placing them on a biscuit with some egg and making a Southern breakfast fit for a king.
So, yesterday in my Little Space I enjoyed chicken nuggets, onion rings, and tater tots. I don’t normally eat these treats so my body was a bit shocked by the processed foods, but nonetheless it was fun to eat my way down memory lane. What food do you enjoy in Little Space?
