Countdown to Halloween Day 3 & 4: Paint Pumpkins and Bake Apple Turnovers

Good Afternoon Friends!

It’s a holiday weekend here in the U.S. and I am so grateful for having 3 days so slow down and soak up time. When I stop and think about it, that’s what this “Countdown to Halloween” is really all about: time. 2020 has been beyond stressful for so many people. It has been life-altering to others. As we move into a new season, I encourage you to slow down and really soak up time. Savor it into the core of your being. Allow yourself to enjoy the little things in life. Make a leaf rubbing. Take a walk outside. Bake a loaf of pumpkin bread. Share a meal with your favorite people. Life is meant to be enjoyed. You are meant to be happy. I know times are difficult, but in every rainstorm there is a rainbow. We just have to look hard enough and find it.

Now let’s take a look at the two activities for today. ❤

Painting pumpkins is a great alternative to carving a jack-o-lantern. You can get wildly creative, the pumpkin lasts longer outside, and it’s perfect for the whole family to join in. Here are 2 pumpkin designs I did:

Nemo Pumpkin
Dia de Los Muertos Hello Kitty!

For today’s countdown activity, around The Berry Patch we made simple apple turnovers! Here are the step by step instructions! I hope you join in too! 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 2 crescent roll dough tubes (8-count)
  • 4 granny smith apples
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions:

Step 1: Peel and chop up 4 granny smith apples. Or… get impatient halfway through peeling and chop them up anyway.

Step 2: Preheat the oven to 375 (F). Pop open 2 cans of crescent roll dough. Melt 1/3 cup of butter in a dish. In a separate dish mix 1/3 cup of brown sugar and cinnamon. Then, smear a bit of butter on each dough triangle. Top with cinnamon-brown sugar blend.

Step 3: Tuck in several apple slices and roll them up into little turnovers!

Step 4: Bake for 12 minutes and serve hot! Enjoy!

Alright my friends, that’s it from me for today’s post. I hope you all enjoyed it. If you did, hit that like button and let me know. Smash that follow button if you’re new around here. And I will see you back here for the next topic!

Don’t forget to come chat with me and all of my Little and Dominant friends at: The Berry Patch Tonight we will be watching “National Treasure” from 5-7 pm PST. I hope you will join us!!

I can’t wait to chat with all of you!!

Much love,

~Penny xx
